Angelina Jolie accuses Brad Pitt of not paying child support

When you think about divorce, one of the issues that may pop into your mind is child support. When a couple has a child or children together, there is a high likelihood that one parent will need to pay support. That’s the case even when both people are independently wealthy.

Why? It’s because the wealth isn’t the point. The point is that both parents are supposed to care for and provide support for their children. That means that people worth millions can still receive child support from their spouses.

Here’s an unusual story about a celebrity couple struggling with child support just like any other family could. According to a news article from Aug. 7, Angelina Jolie has been accusing Brad Pitt of not paying child support.

In the story, she claims that Pitt has not paid any meaningful child support since they spit up approximately a year and a half ago. As a result, she’s allegedly planning to seek a court order that would make him pay child support. Presently, the couple has an informal arrangement where it’s expected that they’ll take care of the children’s expenses, but Jolie intends to ask for the establishment of a retroactive order due to a lack of payments.

Informal situations like this one can sometimes turn sour, which is why it’s normally a good idea to set up a child support order through the court. A court order is enforceable, so anyone who doesn’t pay can be made to pay in the future through garnishing wages or other steps. This helps the custodial parent obtain the support needed.
