As a result, she’s allegedly planning to seek a court order that would make him pay child support. Presently, the couple has an informal arrangement where it’s expected that they’ll take care of the children’s expenses, but Jolie intends to ask for the establishment of a retroactive order due to a lack of payments.
Informal situations like this one can sometimes turn sour, which is why it’s normally a good idea to set up a child support order through the court. A court order is enforceable, so anyone who doesn’t pay can be made to pay in the future through garnishing wages or other steps. This helps the custodial parent obtain the support needed.
